Description
Generating Clean Energy from Wind in Chitradurga, India The wind corridor of Chitradurga district in the Indian state of Karnataka is the site of a renewable energy project that generates 15 MW of electricity using Wind Electric Generators (WEGs). The project aims to harness the region's wind resource for electricity generation while reducing the amount of electricity generated from the grid, which primarily relies on thermal energy sources. Key Highlights: - The project is owned by a single owner, Ms Mineral Enterprises Ltd Bangalore. - A group of 20 WEGs, consisting of 600 & 800 KW rated machines, were installed along the Chitradurga corridor. - The electricity generated by the project is fed into the regional grid through the locally available evacuation facility provided by the state utility KPTCL to the Southern Grid. By generating clean energy from wind, this project contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and helps to mitigate climate change. As a result, it has significant environmental benefits and is a key example of how renewable energy projects can provide sustainable energy solutions for communities while reducing the reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
