Carbon Retirement Verification
This document provides a step-by-step process for verifying your carbon retirement. It links the transaction from our Carbonmark Retirement page to the Registry.
Verra Registry
- On your Proof of Carbon Credit Retirement page (for example), scroll to the bottom and click on the ‘ VIEW CARBON PROVENANCE’ button to open the page showing the credit's transaction history.
- On the Carbon Provenance page, scroll to the bottom and note the Serial Number on the Transfer event.

Select and copy the serial number using browser methods or from your keyboard with Ctrl+C (Windows) or Command-C (Mac). In this example, copied: 12082-384723093-384800545-VCS-VCU-304-VER-CN-1-191-01012008-31122008-0.

Next, click on the View issuance on Verra link which will open in a new browser tab the projects table in the Verra Carbon Standard registry, targeting the VCUs tab with the table filtered by the project-ID.

Scroll the table to the right until you see the Serial Number column.

Click the Filter icon on the column and paste the copied serial number into the Contains field.
- Click the Filter button and this will filter the table based on the serial number provided.
- This shows the various data points that Verra stores for this credit issuance batch, including, in this case, that the tokens on-chain for this particular batch were bridged from the noted retirement detail event. The cancellation event date corresponds to the transfer event for the credits retired via our platform.
