Carbonmark now lists carbon credits from the Large-Scale Sustainable Forestation Project in Phrae Province, Thailand, further expanding our marketplace to support verified and regionally significant carbon projects.

This forestation project restores degraded forest land using FSC-certified practices. Developed by the Forest Industry Organization under the Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction (T-VER) program, it aims to sequester 43,628 tCO₂e annually while promoting biodiversity, supporting local livelihoods, and enhancing climate resilience through sustainable forest management.

The listing of these credits on Carbonmark marks a step forward in our mission to deliver critical climate financing where it is most needed around the world.

What Are T-VER Carbon Credits?

T-VER, or Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction, is a nationally recognized program managed by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO). T-VER carbon credits represent verified reductions or removals of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from projects operating within Thailand.

These credits are issued to projects that meet Thailand’s rigorous environmental standards and legal requirements, ensuring each credit reflects real, additional, and verifiable climate impact.

Eligible projects include:

  • Energy efficiency improvements

  • Renewable and alternative energy development

  • Waste and transportation management

  • Reforestation and agricultural initiatives

  • Other TGO-approved activities

T-VER credits can be used by organizations and individuals to offset emissions, report environmental performance, and participate in domestic carbon trading.

Meet Our First Hero: TVER-40 – Large-Scale Sustainable Forestation Project in Northern Thailand

TVER-40, our first listed T-VER project on Carbonmark, is a long-term, science-based afforestation initiative led by the Forest Industry Organization (FIO).

Spanning three forest plantations in Phrae Province, the project embodies a holistic approach to climate mitigation, environmental restoration, and community development.

Environmental Impact Highlights:

  • Biodiversity Conservation: 15% of the area is set aside as conservation zones, including High Conservation Value (HCV) habitats.

  • Soil and Water Protection: Check dams and agroforestry techniques help prevent erosion and improve soil fertility and water retention.

  • GHG Emission Reduction: Emissions are minimized through low-impact land management and collaborative fire prevention strategies.

Social and Economic Co-Benefits:

  • Community Health and Safety: Green spaces and sanitation standards are improved for local residents.

  • Livelihood Creation: Agroforestry-based income opportunities empower communities.

  • Education and Engagement: Cultural integration and community participation drive local ownership and sustainability.

  • Infrastructure Development: Investments in roads and utilities enhance quality of life and access to project sites.

Aligned with FSC principles, the TVER-40 project ensures a balanced integration of environmental integrity, social responsibility, and economic viability.

T-VER Credit Tokenization

Carbonmark has leveraged its smart contracts platform to tokenize TVER-40 credits.

Tokenized TVER-40 carbon credits are digital representations of real-world credits on the blockchain. By tokenizing these credits, information and functionality from the Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction (T-VER) program are transferred onto a blockchain, where each carbon credit is represented as a token.

Once tokenized, credits can be listed and purchased via Carbonmark's marketplace and API. Smart contracts enable the automation of key market processes and open up exciting new demand centers for carbon credits. Through a partnership with Asend Bit Corp, TVER-40 credits are now available for retirement directly through the TrueMoney Wallet app. TrueMoney’s 30 million users can easily purchase and retire verified Thai forestry credits from the Phrae Province project, starting from just THB ฿39 (~$1.18) for the smallest fraction.

Why This Matters

By tokenizing and listing T-VER carbon credits, Carbonmark continues to support diverse, transparent, and locally led climate solutions that are essential to meeting global climate goals.

Whether you're an individual looking to offset your carbon footprint or a business advancing a sustainability strategy, T-VER credits offer a credible, verified, and impactful way to support climate action in Southeast Asia—a region rich in biodiversity and facing severe climate challenges.
